United Healthcare Medicare Supplement Plans

United Healthcare Medicare supplementWhat does United Healthcare have to offer Medicare subscribers that other insurance companies do not? They are all offering the same basic plans, after all. But in the case of United Healthcare Medicare Supplement plans, Medicare subscribers are and will be flocking to the company for its supplemental coverage because of its reputation and the services it offers.

United Healthcare is known throughout the world as a company that advocates for seniors and offers them valuable services, many of which are free of charge. The Medicare supplement plans it offers do not fit that “free of charge” description, but they can save Medicare subscribers money.

Now these are the same plans with the same coverage, regardless of where you are buying them from. You are only paying different prices and perhaps getting some different services depending on which insurance company you use. So it is going to be to your benefit to compare these plans and the rates attached to them. Each insurance provider decides for themselves what rates they want to place on these plans. If you don’t like what United Healthcare is charging for the supplement plan of your choice, then you can look elsewhere and see if you find the same plan for cheaper.

If you want to get the most out of these plans, then you need to take time to look at their coverage. Plan F comes with the most coverage of all, which is full coverage. You get a little less coverage if you go with Plan N or Plan G from the United Healthcare Medicare Supplement plans. And if you need even less coverage than that, there are other plans available as well.

If you do enough looking, you are certain to find a plan that covers what you need covered. It is then just a matter of finding a plan you can afford. If one of them covers all your medical expenses that are categorized as supplemental but it costs more than you can afford to pay each month, it is too expensive and you need to find another plan. Consider that you may not need complete coverage for your medical expenses. You may benefit from paying some of those expenses out of your own pocket rather than having them covered.

The most popular United Healthcare Medicare Supplement plans

There are really only a few plans offered from United Healthcare through United Healthcare that are the most popular. When it comes to the best coverage for reasonable premiums (best bang for your buck!) then you don’t need to look at all 10 letters usually to decipher what’s best for you.

United Healthcare Medicare Supplement Plan F

Plan F is by far the most popular United Healthcare Medicare Supplement plan. The reason is Plan F offers 100% coverage of the gaps, or expenses, of Part A and B Medicare. This means you visit your doctor or specialist and all of your medical bills will be paid on Medicare approved expenses. What’s better than that?

United Healthcare Medicare Supplement Plan G

While Plan F is the most popular, United Healthcare Medicare supplement Plan G is quickly becoming one of their top sellers and for good reason. With Plan G you still get 100% coverage of the gaps like Plan F. The difference is with Plan G you must first pay the Part B annual deductible. This amount is a once-per-year payment and currently is $183. So basically you pay the first $198 (2020) of your doctor’s bills, and Plan G pays the difference.

Why not just got with Plan F and get everything paid?

Well in many cases, the monthly premiums for Plan G are less than the actual deductible amount, making Plan G a better decision financially! Watch my quick video below to explain!

United Healthcare Medicare Supplement Plan N

Another plan offered by is Medicare Supplement Plan N. With lower premiums than Plan F and G, Plan N still offers outstanding coverage at a reasonable price. Plan N is very similar to Plan G, except on Plan N you could have a small deductible (no more than $20) each doctor’s visit after you meet your deductible. Also with Plan N if you visit the emergency room and you’re not admitted to the hospital, you will need to pay a $50 co-pay.

It’s up to you to decide but you should know that many Medicare subscribers are overpaying for the coverage they are getting. They are not planning out their coverage needs and medical expenses as carefully as they should, and they are choosing plans that give them more coverage than they actually need. You can manage to get great coverage for a good price, but you may need to trim some of the coverage off from what you have originally planned.
