Russell Noga

Well, my goal is to always match up people like yourself with the perfect company, plan letter, and premium that we can find.

However, Medicare supplement insurance is a moving target.

What do I mean by that?

Well, each company has identical coverage, but they all charge different premiums for it. Then, they have rate increases each year!

One year your premiums could be the lowest with a particular company, and the next year there could be several other better options.

That’s why we watch the rates each year for our clients!

But chances are a Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement is a great option for your Medicare supplement insurance.

Mutual of Omaha Supplement Plan G will definitely be one of the most popular Medigap plans that people enroll in for 2021.

  • 100% coverage of the gaps in Medicare Part A & B after one deductible

Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement

A Mutual of Omaha Medicare supplement is a great choice to help pay expenses in Medicare that you are responsible for. This includes 20% of your medical bills.

While there are several different companies available and of course, Mutual of Omaha is one of the most well-known companies in the business, you still need to get quotes from all the top carriers to be sure you don’t overpay each year.

In this article, i’ll discuss all the popular Medigap plans as well as their coverage. Most people now are enrolling in either Medicare Plan G or Plan N, so I’ll spend a good deal of time explaining those.

Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Plans

Medicare Supplements are not designed as standalone plans. The help pay the gaps, or expenses, in original Medicare that you are responsible for paying.

Medicare Supplement PlansOriginal Medicare consists of a few different parts. They are Medicare Part A and Part B.

Medicare Part A covers hospital, and Part B covers doctor’s services. Then you have a Part D drug plan.

Well Part A and B have various items that simply are not covered that you have to pay.

These are:

  • Deductibles in Part A and B
  • Co-insurance (Part A stays in the hospital, and 20% of your Part B Medical bills)
  • Any co-pays that might come up

These leftover expenses create gaps in coverage, which is where the term “Medigap” comes in. These plans help pay those gaps.

There are 10 different Supplement plans, and we are going to look at some of the most popular ones. They’re the ones that offer the best value and the ones that most people tend to sign up for.

In fact there are more than a few plan letters that you would never sign up for.

Mutual of Omaha doesn’t offer all 10 plans, but they don’t need to!

We’ll be looking at the best plans which are:

  • Medicare Plan G
  • Medicare Plan N
  • Medicare Plan F

Mutual of Omaha Medicare supplement Plan G

Medicare Plan G from Mutual of Omaha is absolutely their most popular plan.

Many people love the benefits of Plan G with just one small deductible, then 100% coverage.

For a relatively low premium each month, you can budget easily with Mutual of Omaha’s Plan G knowing exactly what your medical expenses will be.

This is because of all the “gaps” you’re required to pay in Medicare Part A and B when you use your coverage, on Plan G you only have to pay one of them. And it’s the smallest one!

With Plan G you simply need to pay the annual Part B deductible each year. Then Medicare Part BMedicare and the plan pick up 100% of your medical bills for the rest of the year.

Before Medicare Part B pays any of your medical bills, you’re required to pay the annual deductible. In 2020 this amount is $198.

Mutual of Omaha  Medicare Supplement Plan G Benefits

There are many Mutual of Omaha Plan G benefits and of course, these apply to Medicare Plan G from any company. But with Mutual of Omaha’s generous household discount offered in many states, combined with competitive premiums for both single people and couples, they are a great option for people looking for Medicare supplement plans in 2021.

If you have a Plan G, then aside from paying your monthly premium the annual Medicare Part B deductible is your only out-of-pocket expense!

And, depending on which state you’re in you could qualify for up to a 12% household discount with Mutual.

Still Have Plan F?

Plan G is very similar to Plan F with the exception of who pays that Part B deductible. This is the only difference, aside from the much higher premiums you’ll pay to keep your Plan F. That along with higher rate increases each year.

  • Part B deductible amount in 2020 – $198
  • Average amount of higher annual premiums to keep Plan F – $450

This means you’re giving away a few hundred extra dollars per year…for nothing!

Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Plan N

Rising quickly in popularity is mutual of Omaha Medicare supplement plan N.

Medicare Plan NThis is because plan N has lower premiums each month than plan G, in exchange for some lower benefits.

For people who are extremely healthy but want great coverage with no network, Medicare plan N is definitely the way to go.

That on plan N you still pay the annual part B deductible as you do with plan G.

After that, you could have some additional expenses though.

These include things like:

  • The $20.00 co-pay per doctor’s visit
  • The $50.00 co-pay if you visit the ER and you’re not admitted
  • Does not cover part B excess charges

Feel free to use our quote engine to the right to get free online quotes were rates will display including the rates for both plan G and plan N.

This will allow you to see the difference in premiums and which one might be best for your budget.

Even easier is to call us at 1-888-891-0229 and we’ll help you decide if Plan N is a better option for you than Plan G, based on your own personal situation.

Remember if you’re just turning 65 or older and enrolling in Medicare Part B for the first time, your best two options for Mutual of Omaha Medicare supplement plans will likely be Plan G or Plan N.

Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Plan F

Medicare Supplement Plan fPlan F was the most popular Medigap plan for years due to its high coverage. This plan covers 100% of the gaps in Medicare.

Compared to Plan G it really only does one thing differently: It pays the Part B deductible ($198 in 2020), with your money.

And it costs extra money on top of that, for them to do it.

The plan is actually not even offered anymore to anyone new to Medicare on or after January 1st, 2020.

This is because it simply became too expensive.

You may still enroll in a Plan F if you were eligible for Medicare prior to January 1st of 2020. I would highly advise against this!

Which is Better Medicare Plan F vs G

Why give away hard-earned money simply so the insurance carrier can write a check, with your money and charge you extra to do it?

That’s all that’s happening with Plan F. If you still have Plan F you are likely paying an extra $500 per year on average over Plan G, simply to get a $198 benefit.

Medicare Supplement Plans

If I told you I would pay you $300 to pay one bill online that took 5 minutes, would you take me up on my offer?

Of course, you would…Easy money!

So why would you waste that money by keeping Plan F?

Often people tell me “But Russell, I don’t want to get rid of it because I GOT to keep it!”

Well, all you got to keep was an overpriced plan that’s going to keep having large rate increases each year.

Mutual of Omaha Medigap Enrollment

You can enroll in a Mutual of Omaha Medicare supplement plan at various times throughout the year, depending on what coverage you currently have.

Turning 65 or Just Enrolling in Part B?

You can apply even before your 6-month Open Enrollment Period, which begins the day you turn 65 and lasts for six months.

Medicare open enrollment period

Open Enrollment means you can apply and be guaranteed the plan of your choice with no medical underwriting. You may still apply after this period, however, you’ll have to answer medical questions and qualify.

During the period, however, your pre-existing medical conditions will not factor into the price, and you get the best rate possible during this period.

With most companies, you will get a 1-year lock-in with your rate, and then likely get a rate increase each anniversary of your policy.

We shop for those rates every year for you, so you don’t have to worry. We’ll keep you in the lowest premium that you qualify for each year!
