Cigna offers 5 different Medicare Supplement plans, including:

  1. Plan A
  2. Plan F
  3. High Deductible Plan F
  4. Plan G
  5. Plan N

Plans F, G, and N are the most popular Medigap plans, but it’s important to understand the difference between each plan and what they do and don’t cover.

The video below summarizes each plan, but we’re more than happy to help you understand the difference between each plan option.

All of the Medicare Supplement or “Medigap” Plans offered by Cigna cover much of the cost-sharing associated with seeing a doctor or making a hospital or ER visit.

Some of the plans offer more comprehensive coverage, but at a higher upfront, monthly cost, or premium. Our free, instant online quote generator can give you a no-hassle way of seeing what these plans will cost so that you can compare your options.

The best Cigna Medicare Supplement Plan for you depends on if you would prefer a lower monthly premium with the tradeoff potentially higher cost-sharing when you visit the doctor.

For example, Cigna’s Medicare Supplement Plans F and G can give you the most predictable cost-sharing because you know that with Plan F you will have $0 out-of-pocket costs other than your monthly Medicare and Medigap premiums.

After that, all of the costs except retail prescription drugs (covered by Medicare Part D) will be covered at 100%. However, while Plan F is currently the most popular plan, it will no longer be offered after January 1, 2010.

While beneficiaries who are currently enrolled in Cigna Medicare Supplement Plan F can continue to select this option beyond January 1, 2020, premiums for this plan may go up as fewer beneficiaries will be enrolled, leading to less risk pooling.

With Cigna’s Medicare Supplement Plan G, you won’t have any unexpected costs beyond your monthly premiums and the annual $203 (2021) deductible for Medicare Part B.

Medicare Supplement Plan G makes it easy to budget for your health care needs in the future because you know that the most you’ll pay out of pocket are the Part B deductible and the monthly premiums for your supplemental plan.

For seniors who are interested in lower upfront monthly premium costs and don’t expect to visit the doctor very often.

Cigna’s Medicare Supplement Plan N is a great choice. For a lower monthly cost, you still get the peace of mind of supplemental coverage that ensures that you never pay more than $20 for a doctor’s office visit.

Cigna’s Medicare Supplement Plan N pays for almost all of your out-of-pocket costs associated with doctor office visits once you hit your annual Part B deductible, and pays 100% of your Medicare Part A costs such as hospital visits), including the deductible!

The benefits offered by each of these plans are standardized by the government, and many companies, including Mutual of Omaha, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Transamerica offer supplemental insurance with the same benefits, the costs can differ widely between insurers.

While there isn’t one single best Medicare Supplement Plan, the reason Cigna offers so many options is that “one size doesn’t fit all.”

Your health needs are unique, and we can help you compare plans using our free, instant online quote generator to see which Cigna Medicare Supplement Plan is best for you and balances the right mix of premium and upfront costs with cost-sharing coverage when you have to see the doctor or visit the hospital.

Cigna also offers two additional plans – Medicare Supplement Plans A and a high-deductible Plan F. For both of these plans, Cigna’s Medicare Supplement Plan start paying for coverage once you hit your deductibles.

For Medicare Supplement Plan A, that means you will pay $1,364 out of pocket for a hospital visit before your Medigap plan starts covering your cost-sharing, while for the high-deductible Plan F, you will pay $2,370 out of pocket before your supplemental Medicare plan starts covering additional cost-sharing.

While these plans do not cover as much as the more popular Medicare Supplement Plans F, G, and N, they offer additional coverage at a lower cost.
