Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) operates across all of the United States as well as in over 170 countries around the world. The insurance plans they offer are giving millions of people the ability to pay their medical bills. That’s why many people will be looking into Blue Cross Medicare Supplement Plans.
Blue Cross is accepted by more health care providers than any other insurance company in the United States, and their policies are held by employees in more companies than any other. Some of their most popular insurance options are for Medicare subscribers. These supplemental insurance plans offer a variety of ways to receive coverage for medical expenses beyond what Medicare already offers.
Of course when it comes to Blue Cross Medicare Supplement insurance then it is accepted anywhere in this country that regular Part B Medicare is accepted. There is no network and you do not need a referral for a specialist. And with something like a Blue Cross plan F you will get 100 percent coverage of the gaps in Medicare leaving you with no out-of-pocket costs for all Medicare-approved expenses.
They offer a variety of different Medigap Plans (Medicare supplements), but by far their most popular are plans F, G and N. Their popularity comes from the large amounts of coverage they provide- more than any other plans.
BCBS Medicare Supplement Plan F
Plan F gives subscribers full coverage. It takes care of co-payments, deductibles, excess charges, foreign travel costs for medical emergencies, nursing services, coinsurance and blood. Due to it’s great coverage Medigap Plan F has been the most popular plan over the years. In 2020 Medicare removed the plan from line up for anyone new to Medicare on January 1st 2020 or beyond. People who were enrolled prior to that date may still enroll in, or change companies for a Plan F.
BCBS Medicare Supplement Plan G
If you go with Plan G, you won’t get as much coverage. You get all the same supplemental coverage as you do with Plan F, but you will have to pay for the Medicare Part B deductible. After this deductible is met Plan G pays 100% of the gaps of Medicare just like Plan F. The benefit is, that Plan G is not only cheaper in premiums than Plan F but it also has lower rate increases each year.
BCBS Medicare Supplement Plan N
Plan N reduces that coverage even more while still offering some great coverage. Like Plan G, you will have to pay that deductible. But in addition, you need to pay for excess charges from Medicare Part B as well.
These plans provide excellent options for people who need to reduce their medical bills. But keep in mind that they are intended for people with serious medical problems and significant medical expenses. There are other plans available for those who require less coverage. Just because a plan is popular does not mean that it will work well for you.
BCBS holds lots of options for Medicare subscribers. They may be worth looking into as you plan for future medical expenses. Many Medicare subscribers would benefit from Blue Cross Medicare Supplement plans.
