Medicare Supplement Plan J
One of two of the most comprehensive Medicare Supplemental Plans offered by Medicare, Medigap Plan J covers 100% of the gaps in Medicare as well as two additional benefits not offered by Plan F. Despite having these two extra benefits, as of June 1st. 2010 Medicare is eliminating both benefits as well as Plan J due to underuse. Therefore, as of June 1st. 2010 Medicare Supplement Plan F will offer the most coverage for those on Medicare.
Anyone enrolled in a Medicare Supplement Plan J by this date will be allowed to keep their plan and still utilize those benefits, however there will no Plan J written beyond June 1st. The two benefits that Medicare Supplement Plan J offers over Plan F are:
- At-Home Recovery - At-home recovery covers at-home assistance with activities of daily living (like bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, etc.) for those recovering from an illness or injury.
- Additional Preventative Care Benefit - Up to $120 annual reimbursement for approved services
The core benefits for Part A Hospital Insurance, Blood deductible, and Part B 20% Insurance are all covered under Medigap Plan J. Other benefits included are:
- SNF Coinsurance
- Medicare Part A Deductible ($1100 in 2010)
- Medicare Part B Deductible ($155 in 2010)
- Part B Excess Charges (100%)
- Foreigh Travel Emergency
